Sudoměřice U Bechyně: Hotels and accommodations

The director of the National Theatre, Karel Hugo Hilar, whose real name was Karel Bakule, was born on November 5, 1885, in Sudoměřice, in house no. 62; a commemorative plaque is affixed to his birthplace. Bechyňská Smoleč is an example of a medieval colonization settlement and was first mentioned in 1511. The village is also designated as a village heritage conservation area.

Bechyňská Smoleč preserves decorated farmsteads with Baroque gables, pilasters, volutes, and stucco details. In Bežerovice, a village square with a chapel and a pond with water lilies have been preserved. The village buildings in Bežerovice have retained their original character without various additions and alterations.

The Sokolovna historically served for sports, theater, dance events, and meetings, and was later also used as a cinema. The Chapel of St. Charles Borromeo is located behind Kamenný dvůr and has a rectangular floor plan, a semicircular ending, pilasters, and an interior covered by a shallow vault. It dates from the 18th century and meets the definition of a cultural monument under Section 2 of Act No. 20/1987 Coll. on state heritage preservation.

Sudoměřice is served by several bus lines, including long-distance connections, for example to Prague, and is connected to the Tábor–Bechyně railway line; this is considered the first electrified railway line in Central Europe.

A 30-kilometer cycling loop runs from Bechyně via Hutě, Černýšovice, Bechyňská Smoleč, the Marunka forester's lodge, Černice with its golf course, Černická obora, and Hodonice back to Bechyně, also passing through Sudoměřice u Bechyně.

In the Černická obora Natural Monument, pedunculate oaks dominate the acid-loving oak forests; the herb layer contains several different plant species. The spherical Krevel formations, with a cavity filled with fine yellow sand, were once common after plowing and rain but are now rare.
