History

The first mention of Žádovice dates back to 1131. The history of the village also includes the Žádovský kostel: the church is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk, who is also the patron saint of Žádovice. Its construction began in 1992, was completed in June 1996, and the church was consecrated on 6 July 1996.

Culture

A ceramics course takes place in the municipal office building from October to the end of May, with a potter’s wheel available. The Výstavní síň Žádovice exhibition hall is located on the ground floor of the municipal office building. Music also has a permanent place in the village: the Žadovjáci brass band was founded in 1955 and developed into one of the leading amateur brass ensembles in the region and throughout the country.

Nature

The Súsedská lookout tower is 21 metres high and has 99 steps. It can be reached via paths for pedestrians and cyclists, is not accessible by car, and is open year-round with free admission. The “Cesta krajinou mikroregionu Podchřibí” is a main connection linking the municipalities of the microregion with the Chřiby Mountains. The idea of building the Súsedská lookout tower as a symbol of the connection between local residents emerged from discussions between Hýsly, Ježov and Žádovice.

Viticulture

Fěruňk is the largest vineyard area in Žádovice. The village has a long-standing tradition of fruit growing and viticulture. In Žádovice’s cultural calendar, May is dedicated to Putování za vínem Slovácka.
