Horní Kounice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Horní Kounice is a late Baroque building dating from 1785–1790, with a Romanesque core from the mid-13th century.

Culture and History

The Knights Hospitaller commandery is considered the best-preserved example of a village commandery in Moravia and, together with the church, forms a significant historical landmark of the municipality.

The former Knights Hospitaller commandery was converted into a Gothic fortress and later transformed into a granary. A cellar remains, accessible through an Early Gothic pointed-arch portal.

In the cellar of the southern wing of the opposite courtyard, the lower part of an Early Gothic residential building belonging to the Knights Hospitaller commandery has been preserved. The 17.7 × 5-metre cellar can be accessed through a pointed-arch portal from a staircase leading to the courtyard.

The Alinkov farmstead is a late Renaissance complex built around 1600, with the remains of a mill.

The Alinkov farmstead lies on the right bank of the Rokytná River, north of Čermákovice, but already within the cadastral area of Horní Kounice.

The rectory on the square in Horní Kounice dates from 1780 and is considered architecturally valuable.
