Velké Pavlovice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Habánský vinný sklep is a typical example of a vernacular building from the Haná-Slovácko region dating from the period after 1700. It consists of a press room with a wooden wine press, a granary and an underground wine cellar.

The OTEVŘENÉ VINNÉ SKLEPY programme enables visitors from the end of April to the end of September to enter participating wine cellars, taste samples from local winemakers, see how the cellars operate, ask questions about viticulture and winemaking, and purchase selected samples.

The unusually shaped wine cellars of Vinařská ulička Pod Starou Horou are also known as “opilé sklepy” (“drunken cellars”).

The Ekocentrum Trkmanka features a permanent exhibition about the Velkopavlovická apricot, which was established in November 2013. Ekocentrum Trkmanka was established as a basis for environmental education, outreach and environmental counselling for families with children and the general public.

The Zahájka Biocentre offers a new natural area with a series of ponds, a wetland and planted vegetation.

The Slunečná observation tower can be reached via a path through the vineyards of the Nadzahrady wine-growing area near Velké Pavlovice.

The viewing platform of the Slunečná observation tower is located 15 metres above the ground and can be reached by climbing 75 steps.

The Krojované hody is Velké Pavlovice’s traditional folklore festival and a major social event of the year. The Krojované hody includes a long-established ritual for electing the Stárci and Sklepníci.

In 1762, Velké Pavlovice came into the possession of the Habsburgs; under their rule, the fortress was converted into a Baroque château, which was used to administer the estate.

The Chapel of St Urban, the patron saint of all winemakers, is located near Velké Pavlovice on the boundary between the Poštory and Nad Zahradami wine-growing areas.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in the Baroque style and is considered an example of the so-called rural Baroque, which is frequently found in the sacred architecture of South Moravia.

The Velkopavlovické vinobraní is a revived tradition with historically documented roots and is known as the “Festival of Harvest, Viticulture and Art for All Generations”.
