Vrbice: Hotels and Accommodation
Vrbice combines distinctive religious buildings, historic cellar architecture and a route through several surrounding villages. At the summit of Stráž Hill stands the Church of St. Giles, built by the Brotherhood of St. Giles between 1913 and 1920. The Stráž hill is also home to the wine cellars of the Stráž cellar complex, which are dug into the hill’s sandstone across seven levels.
Culture
The Vrbice Municipal Museum is located in the former town hall, the oldest building in the municipality. It presents the history of Vrbice and also showcases aspects of the present through exhibitions and projects focused on traditional costumes. The museum is open on selected holidays – Easter, the local fair and Christmas – or by prior arrangement.
The Chapel of St. Anne dates from 1870, was restored to its original form in 2004 and serves as a place for relaxation and contemplation. In addition to regular services, the church in Vrbice is also used for weddings, baptisms, funerals, concerts, a Living Nativity, open days and other smaller celebrations.
Near the cemetery stands Vrbice’s wooden windmill, a replica of the village’s original windmills. The Hobitín visitor attraction is located directly in Vrbice.
Wine and Cellars
The older Na Sklepech cellar colony was established in the second half of the 17th century. It mainly consists of stone multi-storey buildings with recessed press houses and long vaulted cellars. In the Vrbice cellar colony, visitors can taste the Neuburg, Tramín and Welschriesling wines.
