Vohančice: Hotels and accommodations

Vohančice is located in the Křižanov Highlands and is surrounded by wooded hills and meadows. There are orchards in the cadastral area of Vohančice. The Heroltický Stream, a tributary of the Svratka, runs along the southern boundary of the cadastral area.

Culture and history

Vohančice Chateau is one of the municipality’s important landmarks. The former fortress was converted into a single-storey Renaissance chateau in 1600. Two Baroque wings were added to the chateau, forming a U-shaped rectangular courtyard together with the original building. The chateau is a valuable example of late Mannerist chateau architecture in a rural setting, with Classicist alterations and a preserved Robot bell tower.

The Chapel of Saint Joseph was built in 1906 on the site of an earlier triangular wayside shrine. Parts of the Christmas and Easter traditions, the burning of witches and St. Nicholas processions continue to be observed in Vohančice. The Václavské hody festival has been revived in Vohančice since 2003. Dance events are also held annually.
