Culture and History
The Vranovice Ossuary is a circular 17th-century building of the type known as a medieval charnel house. In Vranovice, Boží muka is a freely accessible monument at a railway crossing and also a traditional Baroque roadside shrine type dating from the first half of the 19th century.
The statue of Saint Florian also points to the history of the village: it was erected at the site of today's church in 1799 and moved to its present location in 1868, in the small park in front of the primary school building.
Nature
The Vranovický a Plačkův les area lies southeast of Vranovice and is designated as a European Site of Community Importance within the Natura 2000 network. It provides a habitat for numerous amphibians and birds.
The area includes hardwood floodplain forests and, along the Šatava River, fragmented softwood floodplain forests. It also encompasses wet alder stands, reed beds and tall-sedge communities, as well as pools with aquatic plants.
