Zakřany: Hotels and accommodations

The present-day Chapel of St. Donatus was built in 1888 after the earlier chapel from 1856 had been demolished. The valuable historicist building from 1888 features Romanesque architectural elements on the exterior and Baroque elements in the interior. The chapel was consecrated on June 15, 1890.

The Chapel of St. Donatus stands in the center of Zakřany and, together with the village square, the municipal office, and the firefighting water reservoir, forms the natural center of the municipality. A free-standing brick wayside shrine, the so-called boží muka, is crowned by a four-sided pyramidal roof with sheet-metal roofing and an equal-armed cross. Another free-standing brick wayside shrine stands northwest of Zakřany in an open field on the road toward Vysoké Popovice.

The first written mention of Zakřany, dating from 1350, reports that Oldřich ze Zakřan transferred two lán units of land to Kateřina, the wife of Vilém ze Skalice. Archaeological finds also show that the Zakřany area was already inhabited in the Neolithic period.

The educational trail between the South Moravian municipalities of Zakřany and Zbýšov u Brna runs parallel to the road, is illuminated, and is 461 meters long. It serves the education of children and adults and includes around two dozen fruit trees and shrubs.

The Permoník Trail leads through hilly terrain with wide views and shady forests. Along the route, climbs, level sections, and fords alternate. Among the stations mentioned on the Permoník Trail route is a smírčí kámen in Zakřany.
