Český Jiřetín: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture and History

The wooden Church of St John the Baptist was moved from Fláje to Český Jiřetín in 1969. Since its reconsecration in 1996, services have been held only occasionally in the Church of St John the Baptist.

The Fláje–Clausnitz floatage canal is the oldest technical monument of its kind in Bohemia. It served its purpose for 243 years.

Water and Landscape

The artificial Jiřetínský Waterfall diverts water from the Fláje floatage canal into the Flájský Stream. The Jiřetínský Waterfall overcomes an elevation difference of approximately 60 metres.

The Fláje Dam is located near Český Jiřetín; its dam wall is freely accessible there.

Routes and Winter Sports

On the return leg of the circular route from Fláje to Český Jiřetín, the route follows the green trail markings; this is where the Flájský kanál educational trail begins in the vicinity of Český Jiřetín, near the dam wall of the Fláje Dam. The educational trail follows the canal bed to the state border and continues on the German side to Clausnitz.

The Po nové Hřebenovce circular route can be started and finished in Český Jiřetín or at the Fláje Dam. If the route is started in Český Jiřetín, the red-marked trail leads to the dam wall of the Fláje Dam.
