Chotěšov has a long history: the oldest written record of the village dates back to 1057. The built-up area of Chotěšov and its immediate surroundings are registered as an area with archaeological finds.
Culture
In 1144, King Vladislav I donated Chotěšov to the newly founded Premonstratensian nuns’ monastery in Doksany. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Chotěšov was first documented in 1352 as the property of the Doksany monastery and was completely rebuilt between 1730 and 1737. The Chotěšov parish was re-established in 1852.
The history of the Chotěšov Madonna is also connected with the new church. The Gothic wooden statue of the Virgin Mary was brought in a procession from the church in Libochovice to Chotěšov on 15 August 1737, the day the new church was consecrated.
The rectory complex at house no. 37 in Chotěšov consists of the rectory, a barn with a stable, a barn, the gardener’s house, the rectory garden, a front garden, a gate, an enclosing wall with a small wicket gate, and a garden gate. Regular church services are not held in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; it is not accessible to people with disabilities.
Transport
Regional railway line No. 114 from Lovosice to Louny and Žatec runs through the western part of the administrative area of the municipality of Chotěšov. The Chotěšov pod Hazmburkem railway stop is located there. Regular bus services connect Chotěšov with Lovosice and Libochovice, as well as with Litoměřice and Libochovice.
Routes and trips
Neither a hiking trail nor a cycling path runs through Chotěšov. The nearest hiking trail is marked red and leads around Chotěšov to the west, through the southern area near Libochovice, to Doksany in the east.
On the U10 trip on the Švestková dráha, you can return from Třebenice via Chotěšov, Vrbičany, and Siřejovice to Lovosice on your own route over approximately 15 km.
