Libědice: Hotels and accommodations
In Libědice, there are several clearly dated testimonies to the history of the village. The Church of St. Vitus was built between 1682 and 1694 on the site of an earlier building first mentioned in 1358. The present-day church has been preserved in an almost unchanged form. A fortress may have been built below the church in the 1570s.
Culture and history
The Calvary group in Libědice is a late Baroque work made of Chernovice sandstone in 1738 by an artist who remains unknown. It consists of a cross with the body of Christ, the kneeling Mary Magdalene, and figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint John on the pedestal. After 1975, the group was relocated there from the municipality of Brany.
A Baroque column with a statue of the Virgin Mary dates from 1704. Another statue of the Virgin Mary in Libědice dates from 1724 and is associated with Vetter. Marie Zuzana Smyslovská stayed at Libědice Chateau at least occasionally.
Traditional celebrations held in Libědice include the end of the carnival season.
