Culture and history

Dušníky is home to a long barrow from the Funnel Beaker culture, dating from 3800 to 3500 BC. The Dušníky long barrow has a trapezoidal ground plan and measures 86 × 16–26 metres. Its 1.5-metre-high earthwork is still clearly visible in a ploughed field today.

The name Dušníky derives from the settlement’s establishment on church endowment land. When Doksany Monastery was founded in 1141, King Vladislav gave it half of Dušníky, namely the lower estates. The first written mention of Dušníky dates from 1226.

A chapel in Dušníky was built in 1813. Its construction is connected with the period of the Napoleonic Wars from 1804 to 1813, when a military hospital was established on the Novotný estate and a cemetery was set up on the adjacent plot. A sandstone wayside shrine monument with a metal cross dates from 1825. House No. 2 in Dušníky is designated as a protected historic property.

Nature and landscape

The natural assets of Dušníky include a woodland complex west of the settlement. From Dušníky, there are views of the panorama of the České středohoří mountains.
