Hrušovany U Chomutova: Hotels and accommodations

Hrušovany is located on the edge of the Hutná valley and was first mentioned in written records in 1209.

History and townscape

An old road connecting Chomutov with Žatec ran through Hrušovany. On August 20, 1813, Russian Tsar Alexander I spent the night in the Hrušovany parish house while marching with his army to Leipzig.

Due to the loopholes in the thick walls of its tower, the church in Hrušovany was one of the fortified churches in the Chomutov region. A monument in Hrušovany village square commemorates those who fell in the First World War from 1914 to 1918.

Cycle path between Hrušovany and Lažany

A 1,200-meter-long cycle path connects Hrušovany and Lažany. It was built between 2018 and 2019.

Culture and historical traces

In Vysočany, the Baroque complex consisting of the Church of Saint Wenceslas, the parish house, and farm buildings is the only surviving remnant of the vanished village of Vysočany. The complex is freely accessible.

Starting in 1728, master builder Octavio Broggio spent ten years designing and constructing the Baroque Church of Saint Wenceslas. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was created in 1713 by František Antonín Kuen. A Baroque statue of Saint Roch was created in 1714 by an unknown artist. A Baroque Calvary sculpture was probably created in the 18th century, later fell into disrepair, and was restored in 2010.
