Pětipsy: Hotels and Accommodation
PÄ›tipsy Castle is a four-winged, multi-storey building with partial basement and a complex construction history spanning from the early 13th to the 19th century. The VinaÅ™ský rybnÃk natural monument also extends into the cadastral area of PÄ›tipsy.
Culture
In 1332, King John I pledged the area in question to Frederick of Egerberg. He built a fortified castle there, which became the seat of the noble Pětipeských z Chýš a Egerberka family. The protected castle complex includes the former moats and fortification ramparts, as well as a bridge.
On 3 May 1958, Pětipsy Castle was entered into the state register as an endangered listed monument; its registration number is 39733/5-676. The statue of the Virgin Mary in Pětipsy is also registered as a cultural monument under registration number 25787/6-677.
The history of the village also includes coal mining: a total of eleven mines were in operation in the cadastral area of the municipality of Pětipsy. As a result, Pětipsy became the largest centre of coal mining in the Chomutov area. Pětipsy also gave its name to the entire lignite basin, the Pětipsy Basin.
Nature
VinaÅ™ský rybnÃk is a shallow, overgrown pond with a diverse bird population. The natural monument protects reed and shoreline vegetation as well as wetland habitats: eutrophic standing waters with reed beds (M1.1) and ash and alder floodplain forests (L2.2). The bird species mentioned include the western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus), Eurasian bittern (Botaurus stellaris), spotted crake (Porzana porzana), water rail (Rallus aquaticus), northern shoveler (Spatula clypeata) and great reed warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus).
