Lipá: Hotels and Accommodation
Nature and Landscape
Lipská hora is a 689 m high, partly forested phonolite mountain near the settlement of Lipá. The Lipská hora protected area safeguards scree forests, thermophilous oak forests, and the vegetation of rocks and scree slopes.
The nature reserve also preserves phonolite rocks and scree slopes where bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) occurs. The massive, slab-jointed rocks at the summit of Lipská hora provide a habitat for the protected plants bearberry and grey pink.
An unmarked path to the summit of Lipská hora branches off from the highest point of the red-marked trail between Medvědice and Lhota.
Culture and History
The first written mention of Lipá dates from 1352. Lipá was divided between the Vchynský family and the owners of the nearby Skalka Castle. The two groups of owners jointly exercised the right of patronage over the local church in Lipá.
The Church of St Bartholomew in Lipá is a branch church of the Sutom parish. No regular services are held in the church. The inaccessible building dates from 1363, was originally Gothic, and was remodelled in the late Baroque style in 1788.
The church complex includes a bell tower with a bell dating from 1576 and Czech inscriptions; the bell is currently kept in a depot. At an intersection in Lipá, there is also a relief pedestal from a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.
The village layout also reflects the long history of the place: the village square layout of Lipá has a design typical of the period around the transition from the 13th to the 14th century. Lipá Cemetery is enclosed by a surrounding wall.
