Laun: Hotels and Accommodations

The Church of St. Nicholas is the most prominent landmark of the city of Louny. The church tower, which is 60 metres high, is now protected as a national cultural monument.

Culture and History

The House of Sokolů z Mor features a massive late Gothic oriel on its façade. A vaulted Gothic hall has been preserved on the ground floor of the house.

The Baroque hospital was built between 1695 and 1698 according to plans by the Italian architect Antonio della Porta. It stands opposite the city fortifications, directly on the banks of the Ohře.

The Žatecká Gate also points to the history of the city. An inscription on the gate dates it to the year 1500. The Žatecká Gate was part of Louny's newer city fortifications.

The Benedikta Rejta Gallery complements the historical evidence with an extensive collection of more than 18,000 collection items.

Nature

The Regional Museum in Louny offers two permanent exhibitions with historical and natural-science content. The natural-science permanent exhibition introduces the steppes of the Louny Highlands, a unique environment created through the interaction of nature and people.

The Louny–Zeměchy educational trail begins at the highest point of the city of Louny, near the waterworks, and has five stations.
