Vršovice: Hotels and accommodations

Vršovice lies at the foot of the 303-meter-high Velký vrch. The geological site contains fossils of Cretaceous marine mollusks, some of which have been preserved as pyrite cores.

Nature

The Velký vrch–Černodoly Natura 2000 site protects Eurosiberian sessile oak forests as well as semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub formations on calcareous soil. At least 175 species of thermophilic fungi have been recorded in this area; it is characterized by rare and endangered communities of thermophilic fungi.

Landscape and surroundings

The mountains Oblík, Srdov, Brník and Raná are located in the vicinity of Vršovice. The ruins of Hazmburk, Hrádek and Hradek Oltářík are also nearby. The ruins of Pravda are located in the wider regional surroundings of Vršovice.

History and technology

The first written mention of Vršovice dates back to 1268. Vršovice Castle dates from the early 17th century, is in poor condition and is not accessible.

Vršovice has a small hydropower plant with a functioning Kaplan turbine. It was built in 1913 on the site of an old mill.

Municipality and transport

The municipality of Vršovice organizes a New Year's ascent to Velký vrch. Vršovice is served by the municipal bus line from Louny as well as by regional bus lines of the Ústecký kraj.
