Martiněves: Hotels and Accommodation

In Martiněves, the historical record stretches from House No. 1 and a former estate farm to former transport routes, chapels, and a monument. At the same time, several marked routes pass through the village and its immediate surroundings.

Culture and History

House No. 1 in Martiněves preserves the foundations of a 16th-century fortress, as well as structural traces of its later conversion into a Baroque manor house and the industrial buildings of a sugar factory. It is also the birthplace of the Czech musicologist Otakar Hostinský. On the southwestern edge of Martiněves lies the historic estate farm with a Baroque barn dated 1722, bearing the coat of arms of the Kinský family.

At the crossroads of the old long-distance route, now a field road, and the road from Martiněves to Račiněves stands the Chapel of St. John; it was restored in 1992. Martiněves also has a late Baroque chapel from the end of the 18th century, which was restored in 1908.

In the Pohořice area of Martiněves, the former inn No. 37 from the period of the historic route from Prague to Dresden has been preserved. The historic long-distance route passed through Pohořice in the municipality of Martiněves, running from Prague toward Dresden, Leipzig, and Berlin. The “Monument to the Victims of the First World War in Martiněves,” a granite monument bearing their names, commemorates those who fell from Martiněves, Pohořice, and Charvatce.

Routes and Transport

The yellow-marked “Otakar Hostinský Trail” ran from Mšené-lázně through a landscape park and a forest to Martiněves. A green-marked route runs from Budyně nad Ohří via Vrbka, Martiněves, and Mšené-lázně, as well as Brníkov, to Kostelec nad Ohří. A short circular hike of approximately seven kilometres leads from Mšené-lázně via the “Otakar Hostinský Trail” to Martiněves and returns via Charvatce.

Martiněves is served by bus services year-round, including at weekends.
