Povrly: Hotels and Accommodation

In the Povrly area, the Natura 2000 site Porta Bohemica encompasses a deep, often gorge-like Elbe valley, the river course, riverside vegetation, and selected, predominantly forested slopes of the gorge valley.

Nature and Landscape

Above Povrly lies Bradlo, a 452-metre-high viewpoint rock offering views of the deeply incised valley, the Lužecký stream, and its tributary. In the wider surroundings of the 380-metre-high Kozí vrch are a landslide area and an old quarry.

There are 11 protected trees in the municipality of Povrly. They are distributed across Slavošov, Lužec (2), Šachov (3), Lysá, Roztoky, Český Bukov (2), Maškovice, and Mírkov.

History and Architectural Heritage

The origins of Povrly date back to the 12th century and are connected with the activities of the Order of St John in northwestern Bohemia. The village’s agricultural past from the 17th to the 19th century is reflected in its characteristic log houses.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Povrly dates from 1936 and stands on the site of an older wooden chapel built in 1808. The Church of the Nativity of St John the Baptist in Roztoky is listed as a protected architectural monument in the municipal plan of Povrly. The ruins of Blansko Castle in Mírkov are also listed there as a protected architectural monument.

Cycling and Crossing the Elbe

Cycle route 3066 runs through Povrly past the local outdoor swimming pool; cyclists can stop there and go swimming. The Velké Březno–Povrly ferry operates year-round and enables the crossing of the Elbe to Povrly.

A cycling tour leads through Povrly to Mírkov and then about 1.5 km uphill to Blansko Castle. There, visitors can enjoy the view and read information about the castle.
