Slavětín: Hotels and Accommodation

In Slavětín, sacred architectural heritage, literary remembrance and paths through the landscape come together with a local calendar of events. This is particularly evident in the Church of Saint James the Elder, the Konstantin Biebl exhibition and the Naučná stezka trail.

Culture and History

The protected complex of the Church of Saint James the Elder comprises the church, the former cemetery, the enclosing wall with two gates, the staircase in front and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The church itself is an early Gothic building with a long, polygonally ended presbytery and a hall-like three-nave interior. The walls of the presbytery are decorated with paintings depicting scenes from the lives of saints. Choral concerts are traditionally held in the church.

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was completed in 1677 and built as an octagonal central structure. It stands above Slavětín in a location offering wide views over the landscape. Inside, inscriptions and fragments bearing coats of arms from 1683 and 1747 survive as the last remaining remnants of the once-rich interior decoration.

The Konstantin Biebl exhibition opened in 1955 and reopened in 1979 after the building was reconstructed. Located in the so-called birthplace, it commemorates the poet Konstantin Biebl, his uncle, the poet Arnošt Ráž (1884–1925), and Biebl’s friend, the prose writer Karel Konrád (1899–1971). The exhibition is accessible only by prior arrangement with the local municipal office.

The Baba Stone is located at a crossroads in the fields behind Slavětín and is fitted with a metal cross.

Nature and Trails

The Naučná stezka educational trail comprises nine stations and a separate information board in the settlement of Kystra. The approximately 7.5 km route runs between Slavětín and Peruc through a varied landscape. The Naučná stezka passes through fields, meadows and forests.

Events

Harvest festivals are held every year at Rodinná farma Suchý. A carnival traditionally takes place in Slavětín in spring; the Předjaří v Poohří tourist march is also held there every spring. In summer, visitors can take part in the Memoriál Stanislava Kučery firefighting sports event in Slavětín. The Slavětínská pouť pilgrimage festival also takes place in Slavětín in summer, as does a football tournament.
