A large Baroque chapel stands in the centre of the elongated village square of Výškov.
Culture and History
A mission cross stands in front of the chapel entrance. On the road to Třískolupy, there is also a statue of Jan enclosed by a wooden grille.
As early as 1057, a farmer from the otherwise unknown settlement of Wischkowa was mentioned. In the wider regional surroundings of Výškov are the ruins of Zřícenina Pravda, Hradek Oltářík, Hrádek and Sukoslav.
Landscape and Bodies of Water
Výškov lies in a fertile plain that borders the Sedlina lowland to the north. To the west and northwest, it gradually rises into a plateau from which the 285-metre-high Wachtberg hill rises.
A large municipal pond is surrounded by shade-giving trees and is used for fish farming. Two smaller ponds next to it collect runoff from rainwater.
The mountains of Raná, Oblík, Srdov and Dlouhá are located around Výškov.
Routes and Orientation
Cycle route 3034 runs through Výškov. Its section from Postoloprty via Výškov and Velemyšleves to Chomutov is 27.93 km long in total.
Výškov can be reached via a turn-off from road II/250; parking is available on the village square by the chapel. Výškov v Čechách railway station on the Most–Postoloprty–Žatec line is located about 1 km southeast of the village.
