St. Anne’s Church stands in the square in Verneřice; it is a Baroque and Rococo-era religious building. The first St. Anne’s Church in Verneřice is mentioned as a parish church as early as 1384. Since 3 May 1958, the church has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Mírové náměstí is home to a fountain with a Baroque statue of St. Florian and a Doric colonnade dating from the first half of the 19th century.

The former Leitenbergova calico factory is an immovable cultural monument. It was built in 1796 as a two-storey weaving mill and formed the basis for the Leitenberg family’s printing manufactory, which was the largest company engaged in printing cotton fabrics. In 1797, a steam engine of English origin was installed in the former Leitenbergova calico factory.

House No. 191 in Verneřice served as a market garden, together with greenhouses and a boiler house, at the latest from the period after the Second World War. The house itself certainly dates from before 1843; historical cadastral maps suggest that it was originally a mill. Its monument value lies in the combination of masonry, log construction and half-timbering.

House No. 6 in the Rytířov settlement in Verneřice is a two-storey building with a traditional three-part floor plan. It has a living room built using log construction and an upper floor with dovetail joints. In the hallway and service sections, the house also has a gallery.

Nature and Landscape

Humboldtova vyhlídka on Buková hora offers far-reaching views over the České středohoří, the Ore Mountains and deep into the Elbe Valley. Ice and snow remain even during the summer months in a crevice approximately 7 m deep on the southeastern slope of Buková hora.

Bobří soutěska lies approximately 2 km east of Verneřice and is managed by the administration of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. In the vicinity of Verneřice, it features steep rock walls up to 30 m high, rapids, boulders and a waterfall approximately 6 m high. The wooded valley of Bobří soutěska offers a walk in the vicinity of Verneřice and provides a habitat for rare plants and animals.

Routes and Transport History

Cycle route CY 1 runs from Verneřice via Příbram and Rychnov to Boletice. In 1889, business circles in Verneřice were instrumental in initiating the establishment of the joint-stock company for the Velké Březno–Verneřice–Úštěk local railway.
