The Church of St. Bartholomew is one of the oldest surviving churches in the Šluknovský výběžek region.

Culture

The Stations of the Cross in Velký Šenov were created in 1855 by Ambrož Hille; the fourteen stone stations were made by the Šenov sculptor Karl Otto. The Baroque ensemble of figures depicting St. John of Nepomuk dates from 1728 and was created by J. Riedl.

The bronze statue “Raněný” by Opitz, an academic sculptor and student of Myslbek, dates from 1929 and is dedicated to those who fell in the First World War. In the cultural centre of Velký Šenov, the multifunctional hall can be transformed from a cinema hall into a stage for all kinds of theatrical performances by drawing the inner curtain.

Cycling

Cycle routes run through Velký Šenov, connecting tourist border crossings into Germany at Sohland, Sebnitz and Hinterhermsdorf. Cycle route No. 3041 is 16 km long and has a moderate difficulty level. Mountain bikes or trekking bikes are recommended for cycle route No. 3041. It runs from Lipová/Sohland via Velký Šenov to Mikulášovice.

Velký Šenov has a forest swimming pool. The surroundings of the revitalised Černý rybník in Leopoldka are ideal for relaxation.
