Skřinářov: Hotels and Accommodations
Skřinářov lies in a hilly landscape and is surrounded by relatively densely forested nearby countryside. The elevations include Na Skalách (654 m), Malý kamenný vrch (592 m), and Svatá hora (679 m). The village square is home to the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, a distinctive landmark of Skřinářov.
Landscape and Nature
The Heřmanovské koule mineralogical site lies in an unremarkable grove 0.3 km south of Heřmanov, at the contact zone between pegmatite and serpentinite. Lenses and spheres with diameters of up to 9 cm occur there.
The “Lípy ve Skřinářově” consist of two small-leaved linden trees. Their protection is justified by their landscape-defining effect and aesthetic interest; a shelter for sitting is located beneath the trees.
About 1.5 km from Skřinářov lies Hrádek Rohy, in a small wooded area 50 to 60 m to the right of the road to Heřmanov. Hrádek Rohy is a distinctive and well-preserved relief of a castle or fortified site. A stream rising there fills the defensive ditch with water to about half its capacity.
History and Culture
Skřinářov was first mentioned in writing in 1364, when the settlement was recorded in the land registers as the property of the Lords of Ronov, who held Osová Castle at the time. The former settlement of Rohy was depopulated between 1560 and 1590. Near the former forester’s lodge in Rohy, remnants of former field boundaries, original stone embankments, and a well have been preserved.
Skřinářov is also home to a memorial to the victims of the First World War. The traditional Children’s Day will take place on August 29, 2026, in the festival grounds behind the municipal building.
Trails and Excursions
The “Svatá Hora” educational trail is 16.9 km long, moderately difficult, has 15 stops, and is designed for a sightseeing duration of approximately six hours. As a tourist route, it passes through interesting places in the surroundings of Skřinářov and Svatá Hora.
Leisure activities in Skřinářov and its surroundings include swimming. A cycling route runs through Rohy, Skřinářov, Ořechov, Březejc, Martinice, and Kozlov.
The Zelená hora UNESCO World Heritage Site in Žďár nad Sázavou is easily accessible from Skřinářov by bicycle, car, or train.
