Hnevkovice: Hotels and Accommodations
Hněvkovice combines historical traces with a landscape of fields, forests, a river, and a reservoir. The village is located in the Vysočina region and consequently offers several different points of interest: from the church complex and vineyards to designated natural areas and an announced hiking event.
Culture and History
The complex of St. Bartholomew's Church includes a bell tower, the grounds of a former cemetery, the ruins of what was probably a former mortuary, and a stone perimeter wall with a gate. Hněvkovice gained its historical status in 1262, when King Přemysl Otakar II elevated the village to a market village.
Landscape and Nature
The municipal area of Hněvkovice is predominantly characterized by fields and forests. The Sázava River flows through the area, while part of the Švihov Reservoir is also located within the municipality. At its edge, the Želivka Natura 2000 site (CZ0214016) extends into the municipal area. The registered significant landscape feature Čertovy díry is also located in the Hněvkovice area.
Želivka Vineyards
The Želivka Vineyards in Hněvkovice were established in April 2014. By prior arrangement, they offer vineyard tours and wine tastings. The southern slope of the vineyards offers panoramic views of the Želivka River and the surrounding Vysočina landscape.
Hiking Event
The 13th edition of the Pochod Prokletým údolím hiking event was announced for September 5, 2026, in Hněvkovice. Four hiking routes were planned: Hněvkovská, 10 km; Želivská, 14 km; Sázavská, 14 km; and Želivsko-sázavská, 23 km. The start was scheduled to take place at the Hněvkovice Municipal Office.
