Michalovice: Hotels and Accommodations

The history of Michalovice has been documented since 1377: at that time, the village was mentioned as “villa Michalowicz” and interpreted as the “village of Michal’s people.” In 1430, Michalovice belonged to Mikuláš z Lípy and thus to Lipnice Castle.

The biography of Karel Kutlvašr is also connected with Michalovice. He was born on January 27, 1895, in Michalovice near Havlíčkův Brod, served in the Czechoslovak Legions, and commanded a company in the Battle of Zborov in July 1917. In 1928, at the age of 33, he became one of the youngest generals in the Czechoslovak Army. In May 1945, he commanded the fighting on the barricades during the Prague Uprising.

A marble plaque with gold lettering was unveiled at General Karel Kutlvašr’s birthplace in May 1991. A monument in a small park on the village square also commemorates those who fell in the First World War. It names Frant. Kutlvašr, Frant. Kučírek, Josef Blažek, Josef Fikar, Jan Morkus, and Václav Technik; the inscription bears the years 1914–1918.

The monument to the soldiers of the Romanian Army stands at a crossroads on the outskirts of Michalovice, at the turnoff from the road to Humpolec. Another memorial cross to Romanian soldiers is located in a small wooden chapel with a wooden cross at the transition between forest and meadow in the cadastral area of Michalovice, very close to the municipal boundary of Petrkov.

The historic Michalovský, also known as Dočkalův mlýn, lies on a millrace of the Úsobský potok and is documented as early as 1676. In the parish registers of Krásná Hora, the mill was recorded on March 29, 1676, as Michalovský, also known as Dočkalův mlýn.

Several described hikes lead to Michalovice or continue from there. The 25-kilometer hiking route of the Havlíčkobrodská padesátka 2024 ran from Havlíčkův Brod via Petrkov, Lípa, Dobrohostov, and Michalovice to Poděbaby and back to Havlíčkův Brod. A six-kilometer hike organized by KČT led from Dočkalův mlýn to Michalovice, where the group continued by bus.

On January 10, 2026, a KČT group took a bus from Havlíčkův Brod to Michalovice, setting out from there through the snow-covered landscape to Okrouhlice. In addition, a blue-marked trail ran along the Úsobský potok to Michalovice.
