Stříbrné Hory: Hotels and accommodations

In Stříbrné Hory, the Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria reaches far back into the past: its first written mention dates from 1265, although the document makes clear that it had already been built many years earlier. It was probably founded by German miners who mined silver ore in the surrounding area.

History

The stone Kamenný most stands near the confluence of the Borovský potok and the Sázava. Its construction is dated to the 14th or 15th century; the bridge is currently protected as a monument. It stood on the road to Polná, which was an important branch of the historic Haberská stezka.

Mining

The Dolní Dvůr site includes a silver-mining area with the Pekelská štola, the Růženina štola, and the remains of mining pits and spoil heaps. The Štola Peklo is a 527-meter-long mine tunnel with a flooded lower level. In 1990, it was declared a state-protected monument; it is not accessible to the public.

The Štola Rosa (Růženina) is also state-protected and not accessible to the public. Mining operations there are documented as early as 1503. According to the 1688 mine register, the Štola Rosa was 104 meters long; according to a second mine register from 1691, it had been extended to 214 meters.
