The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Batelov is a Baroque church built between 1755 and 1761 in place of a Gothic church mentioned in 1400. A pilgrimage to Saints Peter and Paul on June 29 is associated with it.
Culture and History
The Starý a Nový zámek complex in Batelov is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP 33201/7-4679. Batelov Chateau is a two-story Renaissance building surrounded by a park through which the Jihlava River flows.
The Jewish quarter of Batelov lies on the northeastern edge of the historic town center along Třešťská Street and originally comprised 16 houses, including a school. A memorial to the victims of the Holocaust was erected near Batelov’s Jewish quarter in 1995. The synagogue on Židovský plácek was built in the Classicist style in 1794.
The Jewish cemetery of Batelov is hidden in a deciduous forest near the town, on a hill west of the town. It contains simple Baroque and Classicist tombstones; the oldest dates from 1715. With its tombstones, the cemetery commemorates the former Jewish presence there. The chapel of St. Barbara, built in 1638, stands in the cemetery.

The “Na kole do Jihlavských vrchů” cycling route begins in Batelov’s square, is 31 km long, and has a difficulty level of 2. A cycling route via Spělov to Batelov highlights that the old and new chateaus stand next to each other in the town center.
