Mrákotín U Telče: Hotels and accommodation

Culture and history

The stonecutting exhibition in Mrákotín presents the history and present day of the municipality, as well as the history of the stonecutting craft. This includes the production and transport of the monolith for Prague Castle and the production of a large stone roller. On display are hand tools and machine tools, equipment for geologists, and explosives used to blast rock faces. The exhibition also includes a wooden protective roof that was dismantled in a quarry, reduced in size, and rebuilt in the exhibition. Other exhibits include tools, unfinished products, and protective equipment used by stonecutters.

The parish church of St. Giles was originally a Gothic church from the 14th century and was rebuilt in the Neoclassical style in 1806–1807. The church and parish house in Mrákotín have been documented since 1398; parish registers have existed since 1661. A pilgrimage to the parish church of St. Giles takes place on the Sunday after the feast day of St. Giles.
