Záborná: Hotels and Accommodation

Záborná was probably founded in the first half of the 13th century on a long-distance trade route from Hungary to Moravia and Bohemia. The earliest reliable written mention of the settlement dates from 23 March 1282. Historically, the Borek hill separated Záborná from the long-distance trade route; the name Záborná – “behind Borek” – is also connected with this context. From the first half of the 15th century, Záborná belonged to the Polná–Přibyslav estate.

History

The routes around Záborná reflect this geographical character. A 10-kilometre hiking trail operated by the KČT leads from Polná to Záborná and continues uphill to Bechyňova lipka. There are benches and a stamp there. Another 15-kilometre hiking trail passes the 564-metre-high Za Borkem summit and then descends between the houses to Záborná. A 25-kilometre hiking trail operated by the KČT also passes the Za Borkem hill and then descends between the houses to Záborná.

The mountains Blažkov, Rosička, Kopeček and Řehořovský vrch are located in the surroundings of Záborná.

Village Life and Culture

The local culture includes the Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows in Záborná, which belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Polná. A large winter lime tree stands on the road from Polná; beneath it is a Marian column. The village green also features a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, created by the sculptor Václav Morávek from Polná. A new multi-purpose sports field with artificial turf for children was built on the lower village green of Záborná in 2009. On the eve of Saint Nicholas Day, a Saint Nicholas procession with Saint Nicholas, angels and devils makes its way through the families with young children.
