Dobroutov lies on Road II/351, which connects Polná with Třebíč. The village combines this clear geographical setting with a landscape where nature, regional traditions and local events exist closely side by side.

Culture and Local History

A wooden Romanian cross dating from 1945 was replaced by a permanent, faithful replica made of steel tubes. In 2014, a new cross donated by Romania was also unveiled in Dobroutov in the presence of representatives of the Romanian Embassy.

On the outskirts of the village, two very old cellars have been preserved. Locally known as “lochy”, they are built into a slope. On the village square, by the stream opposite House No. 48, stands a stone reconciliation cross with a carved cross. According to tradition, it commemorates two French soldiers who died there in a duel over a girl.

On the road to Polná stands a statue of Saint John the Baptist, a work by the sculptor Václav Viktor Morávek from Polná. The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist belongs to the Roman Catholic Parish of Polná and was consecrated on 22 June by diocesan bishop Jan Vokál.

The local annual cycle regularly includes a musical Masopust carnival procession.

Landscape and Bodies of Water

Dobroutov is surrounded by the natural landscape of the Křižanov Highlands. The cadastral area includes Ochoz, among other places, which is considered the largest forest complex in the Polensko region. The Zhořský stream flows through Dobroutov; in Polná, it joins the Šlapanka stream, a tributary of the Sázava.

A 10-km hiking route from Polná offers a view of Dobroutov after an ascent.

Events in the Village

Dobroutov hosts the recurring wine walk “Dobroutovské putování za vínem”, now in its fifth edition. A traditional fishing event also takes place at Horní rybník behind the stadium.

The Klub vojáků v záloze regularly holds open days for the public at the Dobroutov shooting range. During these events, visitors can shoot under the guidance of an experienced assistant.
