Malý Beranov lies on the flat inner side of a bend in the river, in the canyon-like valley of the Jihlava. This location facilitated access to the river from the surrounding upland. The water level of the Jihlava at Malý Beranov is approximately 460 metres above sea level, while small elevations on the surrounding upland reach over 550 metres.

Paths and Routes
A red-marked hiking trail runs along the Jihlava from Malý Beranov towards Kamenný mlýn and Předboř. Another hiking trail around Malý Beranov passes further rock formations used by climbers.
The Maloberanovský Čochtan circular route starts and ends in Malý Beranov, passes through Petrovice, Puklice, Studénky and Kosov, and is 13 kilometres long. The Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs cycle route also passes through Malý Beranov.
Events
The Maloberanovský Čochtan is a traditional spring hiking march; the 2026 edition was the 50th. The Masopustní průvod in Malý Beranov takes place annually and ends at the cultural centre.
The Maloberanovské slavnosti is a traditional local festival featuring children's competitions, various attractions, refreshments and an evening rock concert by the group Vokrock.
Culture and History
The Church of the Divine Heart of the Lord in Malý Beranov was built and consecrated on 8 October 1939; its construction was financed exclusively through donations. A stone bridge was built at this site between 1554 and 1556.
