Suchá: Chapel, Jihlávka and Forest Areas

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in Suchá’s village square. It is registered as an immovable cultural monument. The Jihlávka flows through the built-up area of Prostředkovice, along the eastern boundary of Suchá, and then northward east of Beranovec. Extensive forest complexes extend into the northeastern and, in particular, the western part of Suchá’s area. Thus, in Suchá, a clearly defined village square, a river along the eastern boundary and larger forested areas in various parts of Suchá’s area come together.

For walking orientation, there is a yellow-marked hiking trail from Špičák to Brtnice that passes through Suchá. A marked cycling route also crosses the area: Route 5215 is designated as the Luka nad Jihlavou–Luka nad Jihlavou circular cycling route and runs along the northeastern edge of Suchá’s administrative area. The two routes therefore already differ in their described course: the hiking trail leads through Suchá, while the cycling route lies along the northeastern administrative boundary. Those who want to experience the surroundings on foot and by bicycle will therefore find two differently routed marked connections.

Since 2023, the Renaissance granary in Prostředkovice has housed a permanent museum exhibition on the history of the Stonařovsko region. The history of the villages of Suchá, Prostředkovice and Beranovec has a special place in it. The exhibition in the Renaissance granary also covers the history of the Imperial Road from Prague to Vienna in the section between Jihlava and Znojmo. Other topics of the exhibition include geology, mineralogy and mining. The exhibition therefore ranges from the history of neighboring villages and a historic transport connection to the region’s geological and economic topics. The permanent museum exhibition in the Renaissance granary is accessible to the public only by prior arrangement. The building is currently being reconstructed.

In the surroundings of Suchá, the ponds form part of Zadní Pouště. The Durchák is considered suitable for swimming. Music events are held at “Jackova stodola” in Beranovec. Hostinec U Štrofů has its own event tradition: On July 19, 2025, summer humorous events were held there for the tenth time. The first idea for these summer events arose in 2015 as a small Christmas party in August.

Road I/38 runs through Suchá and Prostředkovice and connects Jihlava with Znojmo. Thus, in addition to the marked trails, a regional road connection is also one of the clearly defined geographical reference points of the village. Suchá and Prostředkovice consequently appear as places located along the same described road route.
