Culture and History

The Church of St. Lawrence is essentially a single-nave late Gothic church that was given a Baroque makeover at the beginning of the 18th century. It stands in an enclosed cemetery area with a mortuary chapel and is protected as a cultural monument under registration number 20448/7-5404.

On the village square in Hlávkov, a district of the municipality of Vyskytná nad Jihlavou, stands the free-standing Chapel of St. Adalbert. It is an example of vernacular sacred architecture from the second half of the 18th century. The chapel has a square floor plan, corner pilasters, a rectangular entrance, and a four-sided roof that transitions into a bell tower. Following extensive structural and restoration work, it regained its present appearance in 2002. The chapel contains frescoes depicting Saints Peter, Paul, Joseph, Anne, John the Baptist, and Vincent Ferrer, as well as two group portraits. A children's playground was built immediately next to the Chapel of St. Adalbert in Hlávkov in 2012.

A traditional St. Lawrence pilgrimage takes place in Vyskytná nad Jihlavou. An Advent gathering of three municipalities is held at the Chapel of St. Anthony in Rounek.

Landscape and Trails

In the Vyskytensko landscape, untouched meadows and wetlands alternate with historic field patterns shaped into elongated strips or circular sections. In the Vyskytensko area, field paths and roads are lined with distinctive centuries-old lime trees, wayside crosses, wayside shrines, and chapels.

The highest point, U sv. Antonína, reaches 629 m and offers year-round walks through wooded terrain. Walks on U sv. Antonína lead through wooded terrain past old mining works, military earthworks from 1823, and an important pilgrimage chapel dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua.

The Hornická educational trail comprises ten stops with information boards. It runs through Hlávkov, Vyskytná nad Jihlavou, and Rantířov to Rounek; from the parking area by the road, a forest path leads on foot to the mining site.

Marked cycle route 5215 passes through Vyskytná nad Jihlavou.

Mining

The Rounek mining site dates from the first half of the 13th century to the beginning of the 15th century. It is unique in the Jihlava mining district due to its exceptionally good state of preservation.
