Water

The Hubenov Reservoir stores water for the drinking water supply of the city of Jihlava. Construction began in 1968; it was permanently put into operation in 1974. The immediate area of the Hubenov Reservoir may not be entered.

History

The old settlement associated with Hubenov probably originated through German colonization. In 1366, it was mentioned as Hladov, and in Latin documents as Steindorf; its original inhabitants practiced livestock grazing.

The grazing farmsteads of Hladov (Starý Hubenov) and Hubenov (Nový Hubenov) later came into the possession of Želiv Monastery. Albrecht z Ratibořic sold the village of Hladov and the Hubenov farmstead to the city of Jihlava in 1599; the property remained in the hands of Jihlava’s citizens until 1848.

The monument to Antonín Novák stands at the Jedlov–Nový Hubenov intersection in the Starý Hubenov district.
