History and Culture

The Church of Saint Mark was mentioned as a parish church in 1376; the village was also first mentioned that year. Its location in the medieval village center of Vícenice u Náměště nad Oslavou is registered as an archaeological site. This area covers the period from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

The Sedlec Garrison Museum in Vícenice u Náměště nad Oslavou comprises three main exhibitions: the permanent exhibition on Náměšť nad Oslavou Air Base, the “311” exhibition about the RAF bomber squadron, and the salon of General Emil Boček, a pilot with the 310th Fighter Squadron. The museum also includes an outdoor area with historic jet aircraft and helicopters connected with the history of the air base.

The Sedlec Garrison Museum can be visited by prior arrangement and subject to the possibilities of the military unit, as part of organized excursions, during open days, or for school history visits.

The restored brick Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes stands on the eastern edge of Vícenice u Náměště nad Oslavou. The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes was renovated in 2016–2017 and consecrated on April 23, 2017.

Nature

The cadastral territory of Vícenice u Náměště nad Oslavou borders the significant Náměšťsko-Studenecká pond landscape area to the northwest.

The new Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes was built at a crossroads near a pond; the new location is approximately 117 meters southwest of the original site.

Aviation and Events

The annual open day at Náměšť Air Base, the air show, was announced for Saturday, May 16, 2026, starting at 9 a.m. at Náměšť nad Oslavou Air Base. The organizer was the 22nd Sedlec Helicopter Base in Vícenice u Náměště nad Oslavou.

For this announced event, static displays of aircraft and ground equipment belonging to the Czech Air Force and Land Forces were planned. A four-hour flight program featuring dynamic demonstrations by the Czech Air Force and its international partners was also planned.
