Chomýž: Hotels, Hiking Trails and History
Chomýž combines marked trails, a varied landscape and preserved evidence of the village’s history. The blue-marked hiking trail passes through the village and leads to the ruins of Křídlo Castle.
Nature
Chomýž lies in the valley of the Rusava stream, below the western slopes of the Hostýnské vrchy hills. To the east of the village stretch the forests of the Hostýnské vrchy Nature Park. The valley, the western slopes and the woodland areas to the east therefore lie side by side as clearly distinguishable landscape elements. The village area is thus divided into different spatial relationships by the stream, the western slopes and the woodland areas adjoining it to the east.
Hiking and Cycling
In addition to the blue-marked route, a yellow-marked hiking trail also passes through Chomýž. A signposted local cycle route also runs through the village. Regional cycle route 5033 also passes through Chomýž. It runs from Kroměříž to Hustopeče nad Bečvou and is 55 kilometres long in total. This regional connection therefore includes both of the named places and the total length of 55 kilometres as part of the route described.
Culture and History
The first written mention of Chomýž dates from 1365. The village preserves a group of statues of Saint Anne made in 1742. A stone cross dating from 1762 stands near the northern edge of the village.
A memorial on the village green commemorates the victims of the First World War. In front of the kindergarten stands a memorial to the Zelený kádr partisan group. These monuments and other historical reminders are therefore located in different parts of the village: at the northern edge, on the village green and in front of the kindergarten.
In the surroundings of Chomýž, low remains of the palace and fortification walls have been preserved at the ruins of Křídlo Castle. They are accompanied by the foundations of a tower-like gate and a round masonry cistern. The surviving structures therefore include parts of the palace and fortifications, as well as elements of the gate and the former water supply system.
You can also compare the listed services, individual price components and the conditions for booking and cancellation. Make sure that occupancy for the planned number of people is explicitly stated and that price components are shown separately or together. Fixed deadlines and any possible fees should also be clearly identifiable. In addition, you can check the exact location and the stated type of accommodation. For occupancy, it is important that the stated number of people matches the planned group composition. Also check whether optional services or other price components are listed separately and whether the cancellation conditions for the specific offer are stated clearly and completely. The information provided for the individual offer is decisive. With regard to included services, it is relevant whether they are named unambiguously or whether individual components appear separately. When comparing several offers, the respective location, price and contractual details therefore remain decisive.
