Several clearly designated educational and cultural attractions are located in Chvalčov and around Hostýn. History and culture

The historical dimension around Chvalčov reaches back to prehistoric times. The prehistoric Hostýn hillfort and the Celtic oppidum of Hostýn were located there in a strategic position as centers of long-distance trade along the Amber Road. At the Hostýn site, visitors can see a four-metre-high rampart and the ditch running in front of it.

The Svatý Hostýn pilgrimage site dedicated to the Virgin Mary is also located in the area around Chvalčov and has attracted pilgrims for three centuries. The Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Hostýn was completed in 1748. The Svatohostýnské Museum presents the historical development of Hostýn from prehistoric times to the present. The attractions mentioned therefore range from prehistoric and Celtic sites, through visible remains of fortifications, to pilgrimage, a basilica, and a museum.

A specific rule applies to the ascent to Svatý Hostýn: it is prohibited without a permit because there are too few parking spaces at the summit.
