Prasklice – Křéby, Haná Culture and Village History

Prasklice lies on gentle slopes in a varied hilly landscape with flat ridges and trough-shaped valleys. The Švábský potok stream flows through the village and joins the Tištínka River. In this landscape lies Křéby in Prasklice, which is both a national nature monument and a Bronze Age hillfort.

Landscape

The Křéby archaeological site is an elevated settlement of the Únětice-Věteřov type dating from approximately 2000 to 1500 BC. The archaeological and natural history exhibition at the municipal museum “Horákův statek” is dedicated to this important local site. The municipal museum “Horákův statek” in Prasklice opened on May 10, 2025.

Day fishing permits for Prarybník can be purchased exclusively at the Prasklice municipal office. This also clearly assigns the organizational arrangements for this fishing opportunity to the village.

Culture

The parish Church of St. Anne in Prasklice developed from a chapel built in 1852 and consecrated in 1857. Between 1872 and 1891, it was rebuilt into the church seen today. Its interior contains Hromádek’s 1854 painting of St. Anne, as well as wall paintings by František Šenar from 1908.

The ethnological exhibition at the municipal museum “Horákův statek” covers the history of Prasklice and the everyday life of earlier generations. Among other things, it features a classroom, parts of the original church furnishings, traditional crafts, and household objects. Several preserved farmsteads in Prasklice also showcase the folk architecture of the Haná region. Many of these farmsteads retain original handcrafted details such as windows, doors, gates, and façade profiles.

Routes

The asphalt cycle route Morkovice–Nezamyslice is two metres wide, can be used in both directions, and is 11.6 km long. It is suitable for cyclists and inline skaters. The route runs via Uhřice, Prasklice, and Koválovice before continuing to Nezamyslice.

A field path leads from the cycle route to Křéby; the site can be reached on foot or by bicycle. A Way of the Cross with wooden crosses also leads to the pilgrimage site of Křéby. The Prasklice parish organizes Fatima pilgrimages to Křéby.

Events

PRAGULÁŠ is a recurring competition in cooking goulash in a cauldron in Prasklice, followed by a public tasting. In 2024, 12 teams competed, and many visitors attended. PRAKOŠT, a tasting of slivovitz and fruit spirits in Prasklice, is also held regularly. The 8th edition took place in 2024 and featured 36 samples.

The “Prasklický železný hasič” competition was held for the 13th time in 2024. The traditional Prasklice Shrovetide custom “Leading the Bear” is documented for 2026; the stated date of February 14 has not been confirmed.
