Vítonice first draws attention to notable evidence of the village’s history: the Roman Catholic Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius is an important local landmark and was completed in 1889. Another named cultural landmark is the Zelený sandstone cross from 1793.

Culture and History

The archaeological traces reach even further back. Finds in Vítonice bear witness to settlement as early as the Late Stone Age, that is, more than 5,000 years ago. They include stone battle axes and other tools from the stone industry. The chronological span therefore extends from the Late Stone Age finds through the sandstone cross from 1793 to the church completed in 1889.

The public events calendar includes Vítonické Hody: they took place on 5 July 2024 and from 4 to 6 July 2025 as public events. In addition, the competition “O pohár starostky obce Vítonice” took place annually on the first Sunday in June and was part of the Středomoravský Cup for young people.

Location and Routes

Vítonice lies at a junction of bus routes heading towards Bystřice pod Hostýnem, Hranice, Přerov and Všechovice. Marked cycle route No. 5033 also passes through Vítonice. Landscape

Kelčský Javorník and Holý vrch are mountains in the surroundings of Vítonice. Mezicestí [Horní Nětčice] and Kleštěnec [Radkova Lhota], both hills, are located nearby.
