Traplice in the Chřiby Mountains: Culture and Wine

The first documentary mention of Traplice dates from 1228: the village is named in a deed of donation to Velehrad Monastery. At the centre stands a two-storey stone bell tower with a pyramidal roof dating from the second half of the 18th century. Near the chapel is a five-metre-high stone cross from 1820. It stands on a stepped pedestal with volute-shaped side wings. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in Traplice was consecrated on 5 September 2009 by the Archbishop of Olomouc, mons. Jan Graubner.

Another building of local historical significance is located behind house no. 20. It is a clay-built structure with a room on the upper floor, a living room with a tiled stove, a wooden beam ceiling, a black kitchen and a passage barn. Traplice also holds the traditional Slovakian Hody s právem festival.

A completed shared cycle and pedestrian path runs between Traplice and Sušice. Thus, in addition to its location in the Chřiby Mountains and the valley of the Jankovický potok stream, a specifically named connection between the two places is also part of the local landscape.

At the traditional Traplice wine exhibition, visitors can taste around 350 wines from the Uherské Hradiště region. The approximate number remains part of the character of the event. The summer wine tasting Letní koštování vína is scheduled to take place in Traplice on 13 June. A traditional Fašank festival was scheduled to take place in Traplice on 21 February 2026.
