Nedakonice: Nature, Folklore and Cycling Routes along the Baťa Canal
Nedakonice combines protected floodplain landscapes, historic memorial sites and vibrant Moravian folklore with two cycling routes that pass through the village. Between the nature area, the village church and seasonal events, this destination reveals several clearly distinct facets.

Nature
The Kolébky Nature Reserve also includes the cadastral area of Nedakonice. It protects an elm floodplain forest with a diverse tree composition and stands of different ages. Rare amphibians, reptiles, insects and birds occur in this area. Another landscape designation is Nedakonický les: it encompasses extensive floodplain forests with oxbow lakes, features mixed floodplain forests and is home to the bitterling. At the same time, it provides habitats for wetland and aquatic plants and animals.
History
At the beginning of 1421, Moravian Taborites launched several incursions against surrounding monasteries and towns from Nedakonice. In Nedakonice, a Hussite column commemorates the famous Hussite era. The villagescape also preserves older testimonies: the parish church in Nedakonice, dedicated to Saint Florian, was consecrated on 21 October 1934. A sculptural group of Saint Wenceslas stands in the park next to St. Florian's Church. There is also a stone sculpture of Saint John of Nepomuk at a bridge, dating from 1740.
Culture
A more recent cultural feature is the children's folklore ensemble “Děcka z Nedakonic”, founded in Nedakonice in June 2023. The ensemble conveys folklore, dance and singing through children's games, folk customs and scenes from the everyday lives of ancestors. It performs throughout the year with seasonal programmes for Fašank, Easter and Christmas.
Traditional events are also firmly established in the village calendar. The February Fašank holds a regular place in Nedakonice. The October event Slovácké hody s právem is the most important folklore event of the year in Nedakonice. In July, fishing competitions are usually held as a sporting and social event.
Cycling
The cycling route along the Baťa Canal and the Stezka Muškátu moravského cycling route pass through Nedakonice. The route along the Baťa Canal runs mostly on paved surfaces. The Baťa Canal landing stages along the route are designed with cyclists in mind and equipped with service facilities.
