Janová: Hotels and accommodations

The landscape of Janová alternates between meadows and wooded areas, as well as long, narrow valleys and ridge sections with extensive views of the surrounding area. A considerable part of Janová’s cadastral territory lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area.

Hiking and cycling

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from the Hořansko valley through the forest to Vsetín and offers occasional views of the Janová–Hořansko and Vsetín–Jasenice valleys.

Another yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Janová, after approximately 3 km, to the group of old Wallachian wooden houses known as U Karolů. The route to U Karolů offers continuous views of the ridge of the Vsetínské vrchy and the Javorníky border mountains.

The Bečva Cycle Path is suitable for cycling, inline skating, and walking. Selected sections of the Bečva Cycle Path can be used by inline skaters. The marked route runs for more than 141 km along the Bečva River. Janová also offers opportunities for mountain biking trips.

Culture and history

Janová has an old bell tower dating from 1891 and a new bell tower built in 1994. The bell for the new bell tower was acquired through a financial collection among the residents of Janová.

The cemetery chapel in Janová was built in 1890. Its carved entrance was completed in 2002 according to the original design by the master builder Michal Urbánek.

Janová has a monument to 27 local men who fell on the battlefields of the First World War; it was erected in 1938.

In the 19th century, Janová was known for producing Houně wool blankets and high cloth slippers.

Transport

Janová is the second stop on railway line 282 between Vsetín and Velké Karlovice. Several bus routes run from Vsetín towards Velké Karlovice.
