Střítež nad Bečvou: Hotels and accommodations
Střítež nad Bečvou lies in the valley of the Rožnovská Bečva on its left bank, at the foot of the slopes of the Vsetínské vrchy.
Culture
The Evangelical Church in Střítež nad Bečvou is a free-standing, three-nave pseudo-style church building with a polygonal apse. It was built between 1868 and 1876 for a congregation of the Helvetic confession. In 1993, it was declared an immovable cultural monument; in the Central List of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic, it is registered under number 10421.
Its furnishings include a Baroque-style organ, which experts believe was built after 1780 by František Horčička and purchased by the Střítež evangelical congregation in 1873 for 100 gulden. The instrument in Střítež was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in 2004.
In front of the church, a statue of T. G. Masaryk stands in a small park; it was installed in its present form in 1990. The park also contains a memorial to the victims of the First World War.
History
Historically, Střítež was known for the production of woolen lumberjack gloves, basketry, and the weaving of reed mats.
Nature
Rákosina was declared a natural monument in 1993 to protect its living nature, especially endangered amphibian species. The protected wetland covers an area of 17,582 square meters and lies at an elevation of 339 to 341 meters. In addition to reed beds, its area includes grass-covered embankments and around ten wetland pools.
Some of the farmsteads in Střítež are scattered across the Paseky meadows between the forests of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area.
Routes
A marked cycling route leads from Střítež toward the Bystřička Reservoir; there, it connects to several marked hiking and cycling routes. A shared pedestrian and cycling path completed in mid-2023 connects Střítež nad Bečvou with the existing Bečva Cycle Path and Road I/35.
The pond and its well-maintained surroundings are a popular destination for walks by residents and visitors to Střítež.
