Karolinka: Hotels and Accommodation

The Karolinina huť glassworks was built in 1861–1862 on the eastern edge of Nový Hrozenkov by entrepreneur Salomon Reich. Its products included cut glass and cylinders for paraffin lamps; important markets were Vienna and Galicia.

Glass Museum and Church Interior

The Muzeum sklářství Karolinka opened to visitors on 16 August 2014, offering an opportunity to discover the skill and artistry of master glassmakers. The gallery of the Muzeum sklářství Karolinka is open to visitors and displays paintings by Valašian masters Jiljí Hartinger, Karel Hofman and František Podešva, depicting master glassmakers, glassmaking, life in the glassworks and Karolinka.

The Kostel Panny Marie Karmelské church was built between 1994 and 1997. Its foundation stone was consecrated in Olomouc by Pope John Paul II on 21 May 1995. The interior is dominated by an altar featuring a 253 cm-high wooden statue of the Virgin Mary by woodcarver Ladislav Borák, as well as a mosaic by Juraj Begany, SVD.

Historic Architecture in Raťkov

The rodový shluk Orságů in the Raťkov district of the town of Karolinka comprises a farmstead dating from 1831 and is considered an exceptionally valuable ensemble of folk architecture from the first half of the 19th century. The rodový shluk Orságů – Chalupy Pod šenkem No. 285 in Karolinka-Raťkov – was named the Folk Structure of the Year in the Zlín Region in 2021.

Winter and Summer at the Ski Area

The Karolinka ski area is located on the edge of the town of Karolinka, in a valley between the ridges of the Vsetínské vrchy and the Javorníky, and offers a 1,000 m-long ski slope. The ski area includes a continuously groomed snow park, which is also suitable for snowboarding, as well as evening skiing.

In summer, the Karolinka ski area offers children several types of trampolines, the inflatable Bumperball and Aquaroller attractions, pedal boats for the youngest children, and disc golf.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

The 56.8 km-long Vsetínská Bečva route from Velké Karlovice to Valašské Meziříčí passes through Karolinka; most of it runs along a cycle path closed to motor traffic.

Karolinka is listed as a starting point and tourist centre for marked hiking trails.

Valašian Cuisine

Raťkovský šenk is considered a well-known restaurant in the picturesque Raťkov Valley in Karolinka and mainly offers Valašian specialities as well as other popular dishes.
