Valašská Senice: Hotels and Accommodation

Valašská Senice lies with its entire cadastral area at the southwestern tip of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. The surroundings are characterised by picturesque slopes with pastures and wooden houses, deep forests with sunny clearings, clear streams, and mountain ridges offering far-reaching views.

Nature

In the upper part of the municipality, on the road to the Selanka chalet, lies the Chladné studánky area. There is a well-maintained spring there that does not freeze even in winter, as well as a wooden pavilion with benches for resting. There is also a small pond near Chladné studánky where wild ducks breed.

In the surrounding area, entry outside marked hiking trails is prohibited by law in the Pulčín–Hradisko Nature Reserve. A seasonally marked trail leads to the winter icefalls and is open from 1 January to 30 March.

In the vicinity of Pulčín and the Hradisko slope, layered sandstone forms individual rocks, rock walls, and entire rock cities. There are two pseudokarst caves on the northwestern slope of Hradisko.

Active Days

The Koupaliště outdoor swimming pool has a 25-metre swimming pool with a depth of up to 1.75 metres, as well as a children's pool and a paddling pool. Koupaliště also has courts for volleyball, nohejbal, and badminton, as well as table tennis tables.

The Hornolidečský Circuit, part of the Hornolidečská Main Route, passes through Valašská Senice; visitors can cool off at a renovated outdoor swimming pool. The circuit can be completed on foot or by mountain bike and begins in the centre of Valašská Senice.

Horská farma Severka focuses on agrotourism. Visitors can see sheep, goats, a cow, horses, and a donkey on the grounds.

Culture and Traditions

A holy mass is traditionally held on 1 May at the Chapel of Saint Hubert and Saint Joseph. The Chapel of Saint Hubert is a log building with a carved altar and outdoor seating.

In Valašská Senice, the end of the carnival season, Fašank, has been celebrated regularly since 1963. The Fašank procession passes through the village, followed by a Fašank celebration in the municipal office hall, beginning with the ceremonial burial of the double bass.

A Culinary Note

At the Zvěřinové hody on 24 August 2024, visitors were offered venison steak with French fries, roasted wild boar with cabbage and dumplings, and game goulash.
