Nature and trails
A small wooden lookout tower stands on Búřov mountain, offering scenic views. Admission is free, and the lookout is freely accessible to the public. The route there follows a marked hiking trail along a paved road that is accessible with a stroller, but it has a steep ascent into the mountains.
The 43-kilometer-long Portášská trasa leads from Valašská Bystřice via a challenging ascent to Santov. Alternatively, you can continue via Vsacký Cáb to Dušná.
Culture and history
The Památník Marie Bognerové memorial in the former school in the center of Valašská Bystřice displays the artist’s paintings, drawings, and watercolors, as well as objects from her everyday life.
The Portáš graves in Valašská Bystřice are located in the local cemetery and are a state-protected cultural monument. They consist of two stone sarcophagi with carved crosses and inscriptions. In front of them are approximately 15-centimeter-thick, Baroque-worked sandstone slabs depicting a skull and crossed bones. The right grave contains the remains of the bailiff of Velká Bystřice and Portáš lieutenant (commander) Jiří Křenek, as well as his son Ondřej Křenek, a Portáš corporal and blacksmith. The graves stand in front of the Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and are protected as a cultural monument.
The wooden Zvonička na Kyčerách was built in 1997 and rings its bell every noon. The Portášské slavnosti took place in Valašská Bystřice from July 11 to 13, 2025, as the 15th edition.

Valašská Bystřice can be reached by car or bus. There is a parking lot in front of the Valašská Bystřice Information Center.
