Hvozdná: Educational Trail, Culture and Hotels in Czechia

Hvozdná’s distinctive features are particularly clear where local history and tangible routes come together. The Hvozdná educational trail consists of nine stops with information boards. These boards explain the name of each location and how it came into being. The educational trail is dedicated to the recipients of the Hvozdná municipality commemorative medal. Along the same route, the names of the individual locations, their origins and the memory of the medal recipients are thus brought together.

Culture

The Church of All Saints in Hvozdná was built in 1784. Its altarpiece was created in 1890 and depicts, alongside Czech patron saints, the so-called Fourteen Holy Helpers. The church’s historic bells include two large bells from 1598 and 1642. The construction period, pictorial programme and the years shown on the bells therefore point to several periods within the furnishings and history of this house of worship.

The theatre is also associated with several specific years in Hvozdná. The Divadlo Hvozdná theatre building opened in 1929, while the town’s amateur theatre tradition dates back to 1909. The Kroužek divadelních ochotníků from Hvozdná was selected five times for the national showcase of rural theatre ensembles in Vysoké nad Jizerou. The building, the long-standing amateur theatre tradition and the selection for a national showcase thus form part of the same local cultural history.

To this day, the area around the Argalaška pond has a tradition of concerts by Jiří Březík. The Lovka grounds are also used for other cultural events.

Routes and Leisure

At Argalaška pond, day, weekend and annual fishing permits are available. Day permits are valid for one carp and two crucian carp, while weekend permits are valid for two carp and four crucian carp; annual permits are available in limited numbers. The conditions therefore differ according to the period of validity and the specified number of carp and crucian carp.

For cycling access, cycle route 5036 is indicated: From Hvozdná, the route to the U Větřáku crossroads follows this cycle path with a steady incline.
