Vlčková – Nature, Hiking Trails and Culture in the Hostýnské vrchy Nature Park

Marked hiking trails around Vlčková lead to the protected Bzová natural area and are suitable for hiking. There are rest areas and springs along the hiking trails.

Nature

Vlčková is located in the Hostýnské vrchy Nature Park and features a harmonious cultural landscape of increased scenic value. The Bzová Nature Monument lies within the cadastral area of Vlčková. It protects a beech primeval forest with sycamore maple and fir trees. Rare species found there include Italian arum, stock dove, middle spotted woodpecker, goshawk and sparrowhawk.

At Ondřejovsko, rocky slopes covered with beech, sycamore maple and elm trees, together with a pronounced primeval-forest character, shape the landscape. The Ondřejovsko ridge and its wider surroundings are an important breeding and refuge area for numerous bird species.

Trails and Surroundings

The circular trail “Hostýnskými vrchy IV (Around Vlčková)” begins in the centre of Vlčková opposite the chapel and leads through the surrounding area. The Cyrilometodějská Trail runs directly through Vlčková. For cyclists, Cycle Route 5034 connects Vlčková with Lukov.

In the wider regional surroundings of Vlčková, the Přední skály rock formation on Ondřejovsko can be reached from the Okluka signpost via a green-marked hiking trail in less than half an hour. The ruins of Lukov Castle, dating from the 13th century, are located near Vlčková and can be reached on foot via a hiking trail.

Culture

The Chapel of St. Martin in Vlčková was built in 1900 in honour of Saint Martin. The historic chapel in Vlčková was completely restored in the 19th century and continues to serve religious purposes to this day.

By 2026, the local gardeners’ organisation had held the traditional Children’s Day “Children’s Day with a Treasure Hunt” around the Gardeners’ House in Vlčková twelve times.

From Zlín, Vlčková can be reached by car or bus via Štípa and Lukov.
