Sohodol combines marked hiking trails, a cave, mountain bike trails and nearby cultural destinations. For your planning, different route types and clearly named destinations are available.

Hiking

A marked TA hiking route leads from Fața via Sohodol to Peștera Huda de Lapte. Along its route through Sohodol, forest and clearings alternate; this is followed by a short, steep descent to the cave. Peștera Huda de Lapte is an interesting cave without stalactite or stalagmite formations. With this connection, the marked trail, the destination and the described character of the route can each be clearly identified.

Another route leads from Albac to Horea. It runs via Fața, Sohodol, Roșești, Fericet and Măncești, thus naming several stations in a fixed direction. Unlike the hike to Peștera Huda de Lapte, the focus here is not on a single cave at the end, but on a longer sequence of named places.

For hikes, you can therefore compare a route with a cave and a short, steep final section with a route featuring several named stations.

Cycling Tours

The Trail 80 PR loop is newly homologated, suitable for mountain biking and recommended for cycle tourism. Its classification is therefore based on its loop character, formal homologation and designated use for mountain biking.

Route 76 runs along an unpaved high-altitude road through Sohodol, Roșești, Costești and Preluca. This route is also suitable for mountain biking. The sequence of places and the surface give it a different description from the Trail 80 PR loop.

Route 74 connects Valea Arieșul Mare with the high-altitude route. It leads via Sohodol, Costești and Preluca and runs below Vârful Runc at an elevation of 1,275 metres. Thus, in addition to the connection between two sections of route, this trail also includes the named places and a specific elevation.

The loop, the unpaved high-altitude road and the connection to the high-altitude route therefore represent three different route types; the sequence of places, mountain bike use and the elevation at Vârful Runc provide additional factual points of comparison.

Landscape

The mountains Dealul Faţa Albacului, Dealul Fericet, Dealul Soba and Cerbu are located in the immediate vicinity of Sohodol. These four mountain names provide separate geographical points of reference alongside the hiking and cycling routes. They do not represent another route description, but name mountains in the immediate surroundings of the place.

Culture

The immediate surroundings of Sohodol also include the Gorunul lui Horea monument, Mânăstirea Albac-Rogoz Monastery, Biserica Albac Church and Biserica Sfinţii Arhangheli Church. The monument, monastery and churches differ as destination types. Together with the mountains, the cave and the marked trails, they create a selection combining natural, outdoor and cultural points of interest without grouping these destinations into a single type.
